How automatic reminders work
Reminders start with the request and need no setup. You only step in when you want a different rhythm.
- 1
Send a request
Every request you send, by hand or from a schedule, starts with reminders on: every 3 days, up to 5 times.
- 2
Sealio follows up
While required items are missing, each reminder lists what is still needed, says when it is due or that it is overdue, and carries a fresh upload link.
- 3
Reminders stop on their own
They end when every required item is in, or when you complete or cancel the request. If you return a file, they start again.
Control the rhythm for each request
The Reminders panel on a request shows how many were sent and when the next one goes.
- Choose how often
- Set the interval anywhere from every day to every 30 days, per request.
- Cap the number
- Choose the most reminders a client can get, from 1 to 10, so nobody is nagged forever.
- Send one now
- Send a reminder straight away before a deadline. It does not count toward the limit.
- Turn them off
- Switch automatic reminders off for a sensitive client and keep the request open.
- Recurring work included
- Requests created by a monthly, quarterly or yearly schedule get the same reminders.
- Bounced addresses are handled
- If a client’s address bounces or they mark an email as spam, Sealio stops emailing it and warns you on the client’s page.
- French for Canadian clients
- On Sealio Canada, clients who prefer French get their reminders in French.

A tax request, followed up without you
A worked example with made-up names. Every step is something Sealio does today.
A preparer sends a personal tax request with five items on Monday, April 6, due April 30. By Thursday the client has uploaded two. The first reminder goes out that day and lists the three items still missing, the due date and a fresh link.
On Sunday a second reminder lists one item: the notice of assessment. The client uploads it on Tuesday, and the reminders stop. The preparer wrote one message, the request itself. Had she returned a blurred receipt on Wednesday, reminders would have started again.
Automated reminders: questions and answers
How often does Sealio remind clients?
By default every 3 days, up to 5 times, while required documents are missing. You can change the interval (1 to 30 days) and the maximum (1 to 10) on each request, or turn reminders off.
Do reminders stop when the client uploads everything?
Yes. Reminders stop when every required item is in, and when you complete or cancel the request. If you return a file for a new copy, they start again.
What does a reminder email contain?
It lists the documents still needed, says when the request is due or that it is overdue, and includes a fresh secure link to the client’s upload page.
Can I send a reminder manually?
Yes. “Send reminder now” sends one immediately and does not count toward the request’s limit.
