Document types
Your firm's list of the kinds of documents you collect, and why checklist items use it.
A document type is a kind of document you collect, such as Bank statement, Passport or T4 slip. Each checklist item has one. Because every file uploaded to that item carries the same type, Sealio can line up the same kind of document across requests and years for each client.
Your catalogue
Open Settings → Document types. Your firm starts with a ready-made list for your market:
- Everywhere: bank statements, passports, financial statements, payroll summaries, leases, and more.
- Canada: also T4 and T5 slips, notices of assessment, T2 returns, GST/HST returns, permits.
- India: also PAN and Aadhaar cards, Form 16, Form 26AS/AIS, GST returns.
You can:
- Add a type with New type: give it a name, a category, other names people use (these help search), the file types it usually comes as, and how often clients send it.
- Edit a type by clicking its name.
- Archive a type you don't use. It disappears from checklists but files keep it. Restore brings it back.
- Add from library brings back types from the ready-made list that you removed or that were added later.
Owners, Admins and Case managers can change the catalogue; everyone can see it.
Types on checklist items
When you save a checklist or a request, Sealio gives each item without a type the best match from its name: "T4 slips" becomes T4 slip, "Chequing statements" becomes Bank statement. To choose a different one, open the item and pick a Document type.
Each client's Documents tab and search use these types. See A client's documents and search.
